About the Gondola
The Gulmarg Gondola is a two-stage cable car system that is the second longest and second highest in the world. Built as a joint venture between the Jammu and Kashmir government and French company Pomagalski, it provides access to some of the most spectacular Himalayan terrain.
The first phase was completed in 1998, connecting Gulmarg to Kongdoori. The second phase, completed in 2005 at a cost of approximately $4.5 million, extends to Apharwat Peak, opening up world-class skiing terrain and breathtaking mountain views.
The Two Phases
Phase 1: Gulmarg to Kongdoori

The gondola typically operates from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM during winter months. Operating hours may vary based on weather conditions — the gondola may close during heavy snowfall or high winds.
